Headteacher Letter - January 2026

Dear Parent

I hope you all had a restful Christmas break. As students have returned to school, they have picked up exactly where they left off, and I continue to be impressed by their efforts both in and out of the classroom, alongside their smiles, personalities and endless questions.

 

I had every intention of sending this letter before Christmas, but as you can imagine, there was so much going on in school that I didn’t quite get there! From the Winter Concert, to taking 350 students to the pantomime (oh yes we did!), and of course the infamous Rock Mime, our students — your children — once again showed just how talented and amazing they are.

 

What a year it has been so far!

 

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and understanding with the recent disruption to school opening, as well as our move to Bromcom and My Child at School. We appreciate that change can take time, and your support has been invaluable.

 

Below is a reminder of the apps and platforms that both you and your child now require. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you are experiencing any difficulties signing up or accessing any of these.

 

My Child at School (MCAS) – for Parents

MCAS serves as the main communication hub between school and home, helping parents stay informed and involved in their child’s education.

Key features include:

  • Announcements and communications from the school in one place

  • Access to attendance, behaviour, timetables and academic reports

  • Online payments for dinners and trips, and booking parents’ evening appointments (where enabled)

  • School calendar and key dates

  • Products (school shop)

  • Viewing and updating contact details

 

Bromcom Student App / Bromcom Student Portal – for Students

The Bromcom Student App gives students instant access to their school life through a mobile app or online portal.

Key features include:

  • Daily and weekly timetables

  • Announcements and information

  • Homework tracking, submission and feedback

  • Attendance and behaviour records

  • Exam information, grades and reports

  • Access to resources, lesson materials and school communications

 

SPARX (Maths Homework Platform)

SPARX provides personalised maths homework, adapting questions to each student’s ability. It offers:

  • Immediate feedback and support videos for every question

  • Topics set by teachers and tailored progression

  • A Parent Portal to monitor engagement and progress

Tassomai

Tassomai is an AI-powered learning platform that supports students in Years 7–11 through short, daily quizzes and gamified learning. It:

  • Builds knowledge through “little and often” practice

  • Adapts to individual strengths and gaps

  • Provides instant feedback and boosts confidence

  • Allows parents to monitor progress via a dashboard
